Frequently Asked Questions

Why don't you just make more donuts?

We'd love to but logistically difficult. Unlike most other food models, the exact number of available donuts for a given day has to be predetermined days in advance. You can't make brioche donuts to order (at least not ours). In addition, we can only produce and store so much proofing dough at a given time.

What are your most popular flavors?

There seem to be fans of every flavor we've made depending who you ask, but Fresh Strawberries & Cream is definitely a customer favorite. While not for everyone, the people who like our savory donuts (i.e. Savory Everything, Smoked Salmon Everything, etc.) are often die hard fans of those flavors and usually surprise people the most when they try it for the first time.

When are you going to do "XYZ" flavor?

We try to prioritize seasonal flavors, especially when the ingredients tastes the best (like certain fruits). Aside from that, it really is up to Annie, maybe something we haven't done in awhile, as well as offering a good selection of flavor profiles. The best way to know is to follow us on Instagram or sign up for our email newsletter where we send out flavors when they rotate.

Are these similar to malasadas?

Kinda yes'ish no'ish. They're mostly similar being that malasadas originated from Portuguese brioche dough. The main differences we see between our type of brioche and malasadas is in the proof time. Malasadas typically proof for a couple hours whereas our dough proofs much longer and more slowly. This does change the final texture of the dough as proofing is a very crucial factor in the structure, lightness, and even how much oil the dough absorbs (or doesn't absorb) during frying. Also, typically malasadas (at least the Hawaiian variety which we love... LEONARDS!) usually come in a set selection of classic flavors.

Why do your donuts cost more than a typical donut?

To get the texture and flavor we're trying to achieve, it takes a considerable amount more time and effort to make vs. a typical cake or even yeast risen donut. On average, one of our donuts take 2-3 days to make from start to finish. We're confident that you can taste the love and effort in our food.

Do you take cash?

For now we are cashless and only accept credit or debit at our store location. This decision was made primarily for the safety of our workers being that donut making hours start in the dark wee hours of the night.

How long will the brioche donuts keep for?

Since we don't use any preservatives in either the donut or the fillings, we recommend eating them same day, mostly due to the fillings which often contain dairy and/or eggs. If you want to keep them longer, we strongly suggest refrigerating them. Just a heads up, they obviously won't be as good afterwards.

For best results, individually wrapping each one in a paper towel or foil helps protect them from the air and drying out inside the fridge. Bring back to room temperature to enjoy. Some say nuking them in the microwave for 5-10 seconds brings them back to a good temperature.

What allergens are in your food?

All of our donuts contain egg and dairy. Some of our flavors do contain nuts. These are generally reflected in the name and/or called out in the descriptions. There are no randomly hidden nuts where you wouldn't expect them. All of our fillings do share the same kitchen environment regardless of whether they contain nuts or not, so please take this into account if allergens are of the highest concern when you purchase.

Do you cater or do pre-orders?

We can accommodate special events with a minimum order of 100 items with sufficient lead times. Please inquire at info@goodlazydonuts.com for more information.

Do you have vegan options?

Unfortunately at this time we do not have any vegan options. All of our doughs contain eggs and dairy.
